$95 for all 6 sessions or $25 for each individual session. These clinics are targeted at our players that were in the 6-hole group and up from last season. We will usually spend 30 minutes practicing and 30 minutes teaching on the golf course.

Summer Program

Our summer program has moved to Thursday mornings and will start the first week of June and continue until July 27th. Sign up will start immediately for all golf members. The fees for each group in the program are listed below. Included in the fee is entry into the annual Parent-Child Tournament and the Junior Club Championship. The details for these two events are listed below.

  • Thursdays - This group will play 18 holes starting at 8:00 a.m. During play we will expect them to keep stats for us to track progress. (We will not have class on Thursday, June 8th or Thursday, June 22nd)

New this year is the introduction of the Birdie Fire program. Birdie Fire is an online and mobile based program that students can use to track their statistics from round to round over the course of the season. These statistics will help narrow down where the strengths and weaknesses are in each individual. The great thing about Birdie Fire, is it will better assist the coaches in helping the student progress in the right direction. Birdie Fire can also be used to help in the search for a college golf scholarship. Many collegiate teams use the program to recruit new students as well as help the current students and teams achieve their golf goals.

CCL Team Opportunities

This year Country Club of Leawood will offer two team opportunities. One will be the Junior KC Cup that we have participated in for four years and the other one will be a team opportunity called PGA Junior League. Both of these options are fun opportunities for your youngsters and can be a great way to test if they are interested in competitive golf by breaking in with one of these fun, low pressure events. I have described both of these opportunities below with more information to follow for those of you that are qualified.

PGA Junior League Golf

PGA Junior League Golf is a very fun, low pressure event for our juniors. The idea behind this is to set up a team format that will be similar to what our youngest players use for other sports. As a part of the CCL PGA Junior League Team the players will receive a jersey with a number similar to other sports. I encourage you to check out the above website for more cool information about PGA Junior League!

Who is eligible? The PGA Junior League will be open to our players 13 and under.

What is the format? Each match will have 12 players playing. Those 12 players will split into four teams of three and each of them will play a 9-hole match against one of the teams from the other course. The 9-Hole match will be split into three 3-hole matches (each of these being worth one flag). The team with the most flags at the end of the matches is the winning team. During the matches the players will play a scramble format.

When and where are the events? We will be following up with much more information on this over the next couple weeks. At this time we do not have a schedule, but we do know that we will be in a league with Lake Quivira, Hallbrook and Blue Hills. We will play a home and away match with each team.

How do you get your junior into PGA Junior League? Contact the Golf Shop and let us know your junior would like to participate. The fees for the league will be $150 and will include playing in at least 4 of the matches as well as a weekly practice (clinic) ran by one of our Golf Professionals.

Junior KC Cup

Country Club of Leawood will again participate in the Junior KC Cup in 2017. Details are below. This is a touch more competitive than PGA Junior League, but still a great entry level competition for our juniors.

Who is eligible? The Junior KC Cup will be open to any of our juniors from the ages 9 to 15. We will work to put together as strong a team as possible for each event.

What is the format? Each team will be composed of six players playing in the following divisions. The team score will be the one lowest score from each division. The team will then earn points based on what place we finish amongst the other teams playing.
2 Players at 15 & Under (play 18 holes)
2 Players at 13 & Under (play 18 holes)
2 Players at 9-11 (play 9 holes)

When and where are the events? Listed below is the schedule for the matches.
June 13th @ The Deuce at the National
July 10th @ Lakewood Oaks Country Club
July 13th @ Shadow Glen Golf Club
July 20th @ Lawrence Country Club

Junior KC Cup Final
August 10th @ Kansas City Country Club

How do you get your junior into Junior KC Cup? The first step is to let me know that your child is interested and what their availability is for these 5 dates. The second step is to sign up through the Kansas City Golf Association. The cost will be $100 (only $60 if your junior is already signed up for the KC Junior Tour).
