The 2018 golf season will be around the corner soon and we have some great things planned for our juniors this upcoming season. We are busy working on creating some new and fun ways of teaching the kids and we are looking forward to having all the juniors out to enjoy the course! Read through the following information or click the button directly below to save all information about our Junior Golf Programs.
We are excited to get started with a new program for our junior golfers this year.
Over the off-season we have worked hard on creating a new curriculum with a company called Operation 36. The big changes to our Junior Golf for 2018 will be that we will encourage more playing on the course and we will also have an app that will help us track every player's advancement throughout the season. See the attached flyers for the several different options that we will be offering this season for clinics and playing opportunities.

The main goal of Operation 36 will be to get the juniors to shoot 36 (even par) from 6 different distances (25, 50, 100, 150, 200, standard tee).
Throughout the process there is a set curriculum of golf topics that your juniors will learn and be tested on. The Operation 36 app will be unique to each of your juniors and will be a great way for you and them to track their advancement throughout the season. They can also see how they compare to their peers in a leaderboard type setting on the app.

CCL Team Opportunities

This year Country Club of Leawood will offer two team opportunities. One will be the Junior KC Cup that we have participated in for four years and the other one will be a team opportunity called PGA Junior League. Both of these options are fun opportunities for your youngsters and can be a great way to test if they are interested in competitive golf by breaking in with one of these fun, low pressure events. I have described both of these opportunities below with more information to follow for those of you that are qualified.

PGA Junior League Golf

PGA Junior League Golf is a very fun, low pressure event for our juniors. The idea behind this is to set up a team format that will be similar to what our youngest players use for other sports. As a part of the CCL PGA Junior League Team the players will receive a jersey with a number similar to other sports. I encourage you to check out the above website for more cool information about PGA Junior League!

Who is eligible? The PGA Junior League will be open to our players 13 and under.

What is the format? Each match will have 12 players playing. Those 12 players will split into four teams of three and each of them will play a 9-hole match against one of the teams from the other course. The 9-Hole match will be split into three 3-hole matches (each of these being worth one flag). The team with the most flags at the end of the matches is the winning team. During the matches the players will play a scramble format.

When and where are the events? We will be following up with much more information on this over the next couple weeks. At this time we do not have a schedule, but we do know that we will be in a league with Lake Quivira, Hallbrook and Blue Hills. We will play a home and away match with each team.

How do you get your junior into PGA Junior League? Contact the Golf Shop and let us know your junior would like to participate. The fees for the league will be $250 (option to include PGA Junior League fee with Advanced Academy) and will include playing in at least 4 of the matches as well as a weekly practice (clinic) ran by one of our Golf Professionals.

Junior KC Cup

Country Club of Leawood participated in the Junior KC Cup in 2017. Details are below. This is a touch more competitive than PGA Junior League, but still a great entry level competition for our juniors.

Who is eligible? The Junior KC Cup will be open to any of our juniors from the ages 9 to 15. We will work to put together as strong a team as possible for each event.

What is the format? Each team will be composed of six players playing in the following divisions. The team score will be the one lowest score from each division. The team will then earn points based on what place we finish amongst the other teams playing.
2 Players at 15 & Under (play 18 holes)
2 Players at 13 & Under (play 18 holes)
2 Players at 9-11 (play 9 holes)

When and where are the events? Listed below is the schedule for the matches.
June 13th @ The Deuce at the National
July 10th @ Lakewood Oaks Country Club
July 13th @ Shadow Glen Golf Club
July 20th @ Lawrence Country Club

Junior KC Cup Final
August 10th @ Kansas City Country Club

How do you get your junior into Junior KC Cup? The first step is to let me know that your child is interested and what their availability is for these 5 dates. The second step is to sign up through the Kansas City Golf Association. The cost will be $100 (only $60 if your junior is already signed up for the KC Junior Tour).
